Instructions
Sear the Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken chunks and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Build the Sauce
In the same pan, add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Pour in bourbon and let it cook down for one minute. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, apple juice, and ginger powder. Stir to combine.
Simmer the Chicken
Return the chicken to the pan. Reduce heat to medium and let everything simmer together for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Thicken the Sauce
Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour into the pan and stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, about 2 minutes.
Serve
Serve hot over steamed white rice and garnish with sliced green onions.
