Cook Pasta and Asparagus

Boil penne in well salted water and add asparagus pieces in the last 3 minutes of cooking then drain together reserving half a cup of pasta water.

In the same pot or a skillet cook garlic for 30 seconds then add heavy cream lemon zest and lemon juice and simmer for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.

Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth then season generously with salt and black pepper.

Add drained pasta and asparagus to the sauce and toss well adding reserved pasta water to loosen if needed then serve immediately with extra Parmesan.
