Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce

Instructions
Combine and Cook
Place the peeled and chopped apples in a medium saucepan along with the water and lemon juice. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat then reduce to a simmer and cover the pot.
Simmer Until Soft
Cook the apples covered over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are completely soft and break apart easily when pressed with a spoon.
Mash and Season
Remove the pot from heat and mash the cooked apples with a potato masher for chunky sauce or use an immersion blender for a smooth texture. Stir in honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
Cool and Serve
Allow the applesauce to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. It can be served warm or chilled and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
