
Honey Walnut Baklava

Instructions
Prepare the Nut Filling
Combine the finely chopped walnuts with cinnamon in a bowl and mix well. Make sure the walnuts are chopped small enough so kids can eat them easily without any difficulty.
Layer the Phyllo
Brush a 9 by 13 inch baking pan with melted butter then layer 8 sheets of phyllo brushing each with butter. Spread the walnut filling evenly then layer the remaining 8 sheets with butter between each.
Cut and Bake
Cut the baklava into diamond shapes before baking then bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until golden and crispy. The pre-cutting helps the syrup soak in better.
Make and Pour the Syrup
Combine honey and water in a saucepan and heat until combined then pour the warm syrup over the hot baklava immediately. Let soak for at least 2 hours before serving to kids.
