Instructions
Warm the Milk
Pour the whole milk into a small saucepan and place over medium-low heat. Warm the milk gently until it begins to steam and small bubbles appear around the edges. Do not allow the milk to boil.
Add Chocolate and Spices
Add the chopped dark chocolate, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, vanilla extract, and brown sugar to the warm milk. Stir continuously with a whisk to help the chocolate melt evenly into the milk.
Whisk Until Frothy
Once all the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth, increase the heat slightly and whisk vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes to create a light froth on top. Alternatively use a milk frother for a thicker foam.
Pour and Garnish
Pour the hot chocolate into warmed mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick, a light dusting of cocoa powder, or a small marshmallow. Serve immediately while hot and frothy for the best experience.
