Melt Butter and Marshmallows
Place the butter and mini marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 60 seconds. Stir well and microwave for another 30 seconds until fully melted and smooth.
Add the Cereal
Working quickly, pour the rice krispie cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture and stir rapidly until every piece is evenly coated before the mixture begins to set.
Press into Pan
Transfer the mixture to a buttered 8x8 inch pan or dish and press down firmly using a buttered spatula or damp fingers to compact into an even layer.
Cool and Cut
Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 5 minutes then cut into squares and serve. Do not cut before cooling or they will not hold shape.
