Mix and Shape Meatballs

Combine ground meat, grated onion, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix until just combined and roll into small balls about 2 cm in diameter. Do not over mix or the meatballs will become tough.

Brown the Meatballs

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 6 to 8 minutes per batch. Remove and set aside on a plate.

Make the Gravy

In the same skillet, add beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Stir in heavy cream and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 10 minutes until cooked through and the sauce has thickened. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes with lingonberry jam on the side.
