Instructions

1

Make the First Jello Layer

Dissolve the strawberry gelatin powder in 2 cups of boiling water stirring for at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved with no granules remaining. Stir in 1 cup of cold water then carefully pour the liquid jello evenly into 10 clear plastic cups about one third full.

2

Set the First Layer

Place the cups carefully in the refrigerator and allow the first layer to set completely which takes about 45 to 60 minutes. The layer must be firm to the touch before adding the next color or the layers will blend together instead of staying separate and distinct.

3

Add the Second and Third Layers

Prepare the orange gelatin the same way allow it to cool to room temperature for 10 minutes so it does not melt the layer below then gently pour it over the set strawberry layer. Refrigerate again for 45 minutes then repeat this entire process with the lime gelatin for the final layer.

4

Chill Fully and Serve

After all three layers are added refrigerate the completed jello cups for at least 2 hours or overnight until every layer is completely firm and set. Top each cup with a dollop of whipped topping just before serving and enjoy the wiggly colorful layers.

Substitutions

standard flavored gelatina plant based agar agar gelatin substitute for a vegetarian friendly version
whipped toppingfresh whipped cream sweetened with a little powdered sugar for a homemade finish

Common mistakes

Pouring the next layer before the previous one is completely set which causes all the colors to mix together into a murky brownish color
Pouring the hot gelatin mixture directly from boiling which can melt the layer beneath and ruin the distinct colorful separations
